“Here is a people that came out of Egypt and hid all the land from view” (Bilaam to G-d, N. 22:11)
What does this mean? Might it be connected to the idea that Jews and Judaism is all about ideas and Torah, and not worshipping nature, the land?
Is Bilaam right – that the Jewish people obscure the physical world, trying to help people see the spiritual world that is behind it all?
